Prelude

Call to Worship - Psalm 147:1–5
Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 119 - I Sing the Almighty Power of God

*Confession of Faith - (The Westminster Confession of Faith)

IV. I. It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, for the manifestation of the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create, or make of nothing, the world, and all things therein whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days; and all very good.

IV. II. After God had made all other creatures, he created man, male and female, with reasonable and immortal souls, endued with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, after his own image; having the law of God written in their hearts, and power to fulfill it: and yet under a possibility of transgressing, being left to the liberty of their own will, which was subject unto change. Beside this law written in their hearts, they received a command, not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; which while they kept, they were happy in their communion with God, and had dominion over the creatures.

*Hymn No. 125 - Let All Things Now Living

Confession of Sin - (unison)
Forgive us our sins, O Lord. Forgive us the sins of our youth and the sins of our age, the sins of our soul and the sins of our body, our secret and our whispering sins, our presumptuous and our careless sins, the sins we have done to please ourselves, and the sins we have done to please others. Forgive us the sins that we know, and the sins that we know not; forgive them, O Lord, forgive them all because of your great goodness. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - 1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Psalm 103:1–5
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 457 - Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Scripture Reading - Ezekiel 34:11–16
“For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord GOD. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy: I will feed them in justice.”

Prayer of Confession - (responsive)
Gracious Lord, You came to seek and save the lost, yet we
confess that we often live as though we are not in need of
being found.

We have loved comfort more than repentance, and we have
withheld from You the very things that reveal our need of
Your grace.

Have mercy on us, O God. Seek us, call us by name, and
lead us into true repentance.

Make us faithful stewards of all You have given us. May we
not only receive Your redemption with joy, but also bear
fruit worthy of it.

Forgive us our sins, and help us to live for Your glory.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who
came to seek and save the lost. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - 1 John 1:8–9
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

*Hymn (see monitors) - Wonderful, Merciful Savior

Pastoral Prayer

Luke 19:1–27
