Call to Worship - Psalm 113:1–3
Praise the LORD!
Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD!
Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised!
Invocation
*Hymn No. 165 - Ye Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim
*Confession of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
**The word catholic refers to all true believers throughout all ages.
*Hymn No. 166 - Wondrous King, All-Glorious
Unison Confession of Sin - (Based on Psalm 51)
Have mercy on us, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity, and cleanse us from our sin! For we know our transgressions, and our sin is ever before us. Against You, You only, have we sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be justified in Your words and blameless in Your judgment. Purge us with hyssop, and we shall be clean; wash us, and we shall be whiter than snow. Hide Your face from our sins, and blot out all our iniquities. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation, and uphold us with a willing spirit. Then we will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You.
Assurance of Pardon - 1 John 1:8–9
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Welcome
Call to Worship - Psalm 95:1–2
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Invocation
*Hymn No. 164 - O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing
Scripture Reading - Jeremiah 7:1–11
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: “Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all you men of Judah who enter these gates to worship the LORD. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place. Do not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD.’
“For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice one with another, if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever. “Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say ‘We are delivered!’––only to go on doing all these abominations? Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the LORD.
Prayer of Confession - (unison)
Eternal God, You do not change. You have revealed Yourself to us in Your Word. You call us to worship You in spirit and in truth. But we confess that we often worship not Your true self, but who we wish You to be. We often ask You to bless what we do rather than seeking to do what You bless. Forgive us when our worship shapes You into what we want instead of shaping us into what You want. Sanctify us, so that we might turn from our sin and live for You, now and forever. We pray this in Christ’s holy name. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon - Psalm 103:11–12
As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
