Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

Call to Worship - Psalm 95:1–2
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Invocation

*Hymn No. 55 - To God Be the Glory

*Confession of Faith - (Heidelberg Catechism, Q. 1)

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own, but belong – body and soul, in life and in death – to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to Him, Christ, by His Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

*Hymn No. 297 - All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name!

Confession of Sin - (unison)
Our Father, we have sinned against You by our thoughts, words, and actions. We have sinned by our own will. No one is responsible for our failings but we ourselves. Trusting in some idol, we have gone the way which seemed right to us, but the end of that way is death. We have turned to broken wells that hold no water. We are thirsty. Forgive us, cleanse us, and help us to turn to Jesus Christ, the Fountain of Life. Fill us with Your Spirit, we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - Psalm 130:1–4
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Psalm 98:1–2
Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 119 - I Sing the Almighty Power of God

Scripture Reading - 1 Peter 5:1–11
So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you, not for shameful gain, but eagerly, not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of Confession - (unison)
Heavenly Father, we confess that we have not watched over ourselves. We have neglected Your Word, trusted in our own strength, and wandered from Your ways. We have failed to love You with our whole heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Forgive us our carelessness and our pride. Cleanse us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Renew us by Your Holy Spirit, and grant that we may walk faithfully in Your truth. Sanctify us by Your grace we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - 1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

*Hymn No. 457 - Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Pastoral Prayer

Sermon
A Solemn Charge
Rev. John Moore
Acts 20:13–38

*Hymn No. 599 - Savior, like a Shepherd Lead Us

*Benediction

*Please stand if you are able.
