Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

Call to Worship -John 4:23–24
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

*Invocation

*Hymn of Adoration No. 38 - Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

*Prayer of Confession - (unison)
Most holy God, we confess that our hearts are often deceived, turning us away from Your ways and hiding sin even from ourselves. Yet You are the One who searches and knows us completely. We ask You to reveal what is false within us, cleanse what is corrupt, and renew what is broken. Deliver us from trusting in our own strength, and teach us to rest in Your mercy alone, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*Assurance of Pardon - Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

*Hymn of Assurance No. 523 - My Hope Is in the Lord

Scripture Reading - Romans 7:7–25

Confession of Faith - Westminster Confession of Faith 9.3, 9.4, and 9.5

9.3 Man, by his fall into a state of sin, has wholly lost all ability of will to any spiritual good accompanying salvation: so as, a natural man, being altogether averse from that good, and dead in sin, is not able, by his own strength, to convert himself, or to prepare himself thereunto.

9.4 When God converts a sinner, and translates him into the state of grace, he frees him from his natural bondage under sin; and, by his grace alone, enables him freely to will and to do that which is spiritually good; yet so, as that by reason of his remaining corruption, he does not perfectly, nor only, will that which is good, but does also will that which is evil.

9.5 The will of man is made perfectly and immutably free to good alone, in the state of glory only.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Psalm 111:1
Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

Invocation

*Hymn of Adoration No. 165 - Ye Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim

Scripture Reading - Ephesians 4:1–16
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit––just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call–– one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”

(In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather,
speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

*Confession of Faith - Westminster Confession of Faith 26.1
26.1 All saints, that are united to Jesus Christ their Head, by his Spirit, and by faith, have fellowship with him in his graces, sufferings, death, resurrection, and glory: and, being united to one another in love, they have communion in each other’s gifts and graces, and are obliged to the performance of such duties, public and private, as do conduce to their mutual good, both in the inward and outward man.

*Hymn of Preparation No. 353 - I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord

Pastoral Prayer

Sermon
Paul and James
Rev. John Moore
Acts 21:15–26

*Hymn of Response No. 355 - We Are God’s People

*Benediction

*Please stand if you are able.
