Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

*The Call to Worship -  Jeremiah 3:12b, Psalm 100:2
Thus says the LORD: ‘Return, faithless Israel, I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful.’ Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

*The Invocation

*The Hymn of Contrition No. 490 - Out of the Deep I Call

*The Corporate Confession of Sin
Holy and Faithful Father, we confess before You the fickleness of our hearts. Like Israel in the days of the judges, we forget Your past mercies, take Your deliverance for granted, and quickly turn aside to the idols of our age. We serve the gods of comfort, self-reliance, applause, and earthly security. We confess that we often pray to You only when our sins ring us into distress, treating You as a temporary refuge rather than our supreme Lord. Forgive our spiritual adultery and our stubborn backslidings. Awaken us from our dullness, wash us in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and enthrone Himself alone as King over our affections. Amen.

*The Words of Assurance - Hosea 14:4–5 & Micah 7:18a
Thus says the LORD: ‘I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them. I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon.’ Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance?

*The Hymn of Assurance No. 523 - My Hope Is in the Lord

The Confession of Faith - Westminster Shorter Catechism Q. 26

Q. How does Christ execute the office of a king?
A. Christ executes the office of a king, in subduing us to himself, in ruling and defending us, and in restraining and conquering all his and our enemies.

The Musical Offering

Sanctuary Choir, Katheryn Rubio, piano

(Please sign and pass the registration pad at the end of the row)

*The Doxology No. 731

*The Scripture Readings - Hebrews 1:1–4; 3:1–14
(pew Bible, pages 1001–1002)

*The Hymn of Preparation No. 370 - Revive Thy Work, O Lord

The Children’s Devotion - (children return to their seats)

The Sermon
Dark Days, Faithful God
Rev. Cilas Menezes
Judges 2:6–23 (pew Bible, pages 201–202)

*The Benediction - Hebrews 13:20–21
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

*The Benediction Response No. 735 - Gloria Patri

*Please stand if you are able.

Evening Worship

Welcome

*The Call to Worship - Psalm 95:1–3
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

*The Invocation

*The Hymn of Adoration No. 297 - All Hail the power of Jesus’ Name!

*The Scripture Reading - 1 Peter 3:8–16
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good
conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

The Pastoral Prayer

The Confession of Faith - Westminster Shorter Catechism Q.31
Q. What is effectual calling?
A. Effectual calling is the work of God’s Spirit, whereby, convincing us of our sin and misery, enlightening our minds in the knowledge of Christ, and renewing our wills, he does persuade and enable us to embrace Jesus Christ, freely offered to us in the gospel.

*The Hymn of Preparation No. 188 - Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting

The Sermon
Paul Before Agrippa
Rev. John Moore
Acts 25:23–26:32 (pew Bible, pages 934–936)

*The Hymn of Response No. 501 - Just As I Am, without One Plea

*The Benediction - Numbers 6:24–26
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

*Please stand if you are able.
