Rev. Cilas Menezes

Incoming Senior Pastor

Rev. Cilas Menezes is joyfully married to his beloved wife, Ana, and together they delight in raising their four sons: Cilas, Thomas, Nathan, and Ethan.

He was born and raised in Recife, Brazil, in a Christian home. Though surrounded by the life of the church from an early age, it was not until the end of his teenage years that he recognized his faith had been more tradition than conviction. And so, while completing his law degree, he found that none of his pursuits at the time could offer lasting satisfaction.

Moved by his father’s steadfast love for Christ and His church, he began reading the Scriptures for himself. It was through the tender words of Hosea 11 that the Lord made clear to him that Rev. Cilas belonged to Him. From that moment, his life changed, and he never looked back.

In the years that followed, the Lord began to shape and affirm his call to ministry. He was given the opportunity to teach a Sunday School class in his local church, where the joy of opening God’s Word became unmistakable. He later served as a Ruling Elder, and his desire for deeper service continued to grow. Sensing the Lord’s leading, he moved to the United States to pursue theological training at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity. During this time, he completed an internship at Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church, further confirming his pastoral calling.

Before coming to First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs, he also served for over four years as Associate Pastor at Midway Presbyterian Church, where he ministered through preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and shepherding God’s people.

Today, as Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs, he continues to serve the congregation through preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and leadership. His vision is to see a church filled with people who love the Lord with all their hearts. A people marked by a deep hunger for God’s Word, fervency in prayer, joyful commitment to gather for worship every Lord’s Day, morning and evening, and a sincere desire to serve one another as the body of Christ.
