Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

Call to Worship - Revelation 5:13–14
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 19 - Thee We Adore, Eternal Lord!

*Confession of Faith - (Heidelberg Catechism, Q. 1)

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own, but belong – body and soul, in life and in death – to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to Him, Christ, by His Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

*Hymn No. 382 - God Himself Is with Us

Confession of Sin - (unison)
Heavenly Father, we confess our many sins. We have failed to love You with all our heart, soul, and mind, and we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. Have mercy on us, O Lord. Look upon us in Your tender grace, and help us to see our sins, have true sorrow for them, and grant to us the resolve to live in consistent repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord. We ask this in His most precious and holy name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - Psalm 32:1–2, 5
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. …I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 1 - All People That on Earth Do Dwell

Scripture Reading - Deuteronomy 6:4–9
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Prayer of Confession - (responsive)

Lord, You have spoken and revealed Your mighty deeds, calling us to remember Your works and trust in You.

Yet we confess that we have not listened as we ought, or inclined our hearts to Your Word.

You commanded that Your truth be passed on from generation to generation.

But we have neglected to teach Your ways, and have failed to declare Your faithfulness to those who come after us.

Have mercy on us, O God, according to Your steadfast love.

Forgive us our forgetfulness, our disobedience, and our unfaithfulness. Renew in us a steadfast spirit, that we would remember Your words, walk in Your ways, and teach Your truth to the generations to come. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - Romans 8:1–2
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

*Hymn No. 460 - Amazing Grace!

Pastoral Prayer

Sermon
We Will Tell the Next Generation
Rev. Esaïe Etienne
Psalm 78:1–8

*Hymn No. 570 - Faith of Our Fathers!

*Benediction

*Please stand if you are able.
