Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

Call to Worship - Psalm 66:5, 1–2
Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!

Invocation

*Hymn No. 76 - Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven

*Confession of Faith - Heidelberg Catechism Q. 21, 61

Q. 21 What is true faith?
True faith is not only a certain knowledge, whereby I hold for truth all that God has revealed to us in his word, but also an assured confidence, which the Holy Ghost works by the gospel in my heart; that not only to others, but to me also, remission of sin, everlasting righteousness and salvation, are freely given by God, merely of grace, only for the sake of Christ’s merits.

 Q. 61 Why do you say that you are righteous by faith alone?
A. Not because God accepts me for the worthiness of my faith. Rather, only Christ’s satisfaction, righteousness and holiness make me righteous before God, and I can receive this righteousness and make it mine in no other way than by faith alone.

*Hymn No. 468 - My Faith Has Found a Resting Place

Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardon - Ephesians 1:7–10
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he
set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Psalm 34:1–3
I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!

Invocation

*Hymn No. 164 - O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing

Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 5:1–13
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father’s wife. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people–– not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler––not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

Prayer of Confession - (unison)
Heavenly Father, we come before you with humble hearts, acknowledging our sins and the ways we have fallen short of your will. We confess the evil we have allowed in our lives––whether in thought, word, or deed––and we ask for your mercy and cleansing. Forgive us, Lord, and renew a right spirit within us. Help us to turn away from our sin and choose to walk in obedience to your Word. Strengthen us to follow you faithfully, to love what is good, and to live lives that honor you. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - Romans 5:8–9
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

*Hymn No. 457 - Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Pastoral Prayer

Sermon
They Did Not Drive Them Out Completely
Pastor Moore
Judges 1:1–36

*Hymn No. 590 - Jesus, Master, Whose I Am

*Benediction
