Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

Call to Worship - Isaiah 2:3, 5
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths… O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 610 - “Take Up Your Cross,” the Savior Said

*Confession of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*The word catholic refers to all true believers throughout all ages.

*Hymn No. 251 - Beneath the Cross of Jesus

Confession of Sin - (unison)
Almighty and most merciful Father,
We have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. O Lord, have mercy upon
us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who repent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful Father, for his sake, that we may, from now on, live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - 1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Philippians 4:4–6
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 310 - Rejoice, the Lord Is King

Scripture Reading - Ephesians 2:11–22
Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands–– remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Prayer of Confession - (unison)
Gracious Lord, we confess that we dishonor you in our words, thoughts, and deeds. Depending on our strength, we stumble. Glorying in our own righteousness, we reject you. Turning our faces from you, we desire the things of this world to satisfy us. We pray now, Lord, for you to forgive all of our many sins; to cleanse the darkness from our lives, and to turn our faces and our hearts back towards you. We pray these things in the name of your most precious son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - Acts 13:38; Ephesians 1:7
Through [Jesus Christ}, forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you...  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.

*Hymn No. 478 - I Love to Tell the Story
