Morning Worship

Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

Call to Worship - Isaiah 55:1, 6–7

Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price… Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Invocation

*Hymn No. 146 Break Thou the Bread of Life

*Confession of Faith The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; whose Kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Confession of Sin (Based on the Ten Commandments)

O God, we confess that we have sinned against Your commandments.
For not having worshipped You only, forgive us;
for having taken Your holy name in vain, forgive us;
for not keeping Your Sabbath holy, forgive us;
for not honoring our fathers and mothers, forgive us;
for taking life, through gossip, word and deed, forgive us;
for having been unchaste, in our thoughts, words, and actions, forgive us;
for having stolen, forgive us;
for bearing false witness, forgive us;
and finally, for having coveted, forgive us.
Forgive them all because of your great goodness. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - 1 John 2:1–2
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered… I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Evening Worship

Welcome

Call to Worship - Psalm 99:1–5

The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! The LORD is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he! The King in his might loves justice. You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!

Invocation

*Hymn No. 2 O Worship the King

Scripture Reading - Psalm 78:56–66

Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God
and did not keep his testimonies,
but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers;
they twisted like a deceitful bow.
For they provoked him to anger with their high places;
they moved him to jealousy with their idols.
When God heard, he was full of wrath,
and he utterly rejected Israel.
He forsook his dwelling at Shiloh,
the tent where he dwelt among mankind,
and delivered his power to captivity,
his glory to the hand of the foe.
He gave his people over to the sword
and vented his wrath on his heritage.
Fire devoured their young men,
and their young women had no marriage song.
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.
Then the Lord awoke as from sleep,
like a strong man shouting because of wine.
And he put his adversaries to rout;
he put them to everlasting shame.

Prayer of Confession (pray silently along with the pastor)

Assurance of Pardon - Psalm 103:8–12

The LORD is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
